Dikembe Mutombo Foundation

Dikembe Mutombo is a retired Congolese American professional basketball player who last played for the Houston Rockets of the NBA. A well-known humanitarian, Mutombo started the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation to improve living conditions in his native Democratic Republic of Congo, and had donated $15 millionto the completion of the Biamba Marie Mutombo Hospital. This $29 million facility became the first modern medical facility to be built in the area of Kinshasa, Africa, where about a quarter of the city’s 7.5 million residents live in poverty. Host Damon Davis takes the viewer through the history and the current living conditions in a plea for American donations.
